The Civil Service 2022 report shows 54.2% of workers are women, but only 47.3% hold senior leadership positions.
Only 8.2% of senior Civil Service leaders are from ethnic minority backgrounds, according to the 2022 Civil Service report.

Overview

Building Foundations, Closing Gaps, Shaping the Future

Women’s representation in the public sector has increased recently, with women making up over 50% of NHS staff, civil servants, and teachers. Despite this progress, a glass ceiling persists in senior leadership roles, especially for women from minority ethnic backgrounds.

However, by sharing best practices, women in the public sector can enhance their leadership skills and assert themselves, working towards achieving gender parity at senior levels.

Join us at Women in Public Sector Leadership 2024: Breaking Down Barriers to Success to learn from inspiring women in the civil service and public sector about overcoming gendered barriers to career advancement.

Gain insights from best practice case studies as successful women leaders in the public sector share how they’ve overcome imposter syndrome, addressed sexism, and built confidence to advance their careers.

An expert panel will discuss improving leadership representation for women from minority ethnic backgrounds. And you can network online with senior colleagues and explore innovative solutions for progressing to senior leadership positions.
